Why You Should Create Short Marketing Videos for Your Photography Business + Free List
Photographers: It’s time to build your own video content library.
If you’re a brand photographer and you aren’t using short videos in your marketing, you’re missing out on reaching so many potential clients!
Your ideal clients need to be using short videos in their marketing, and you can show them how it’s done with your own branded content. Just sharing photos on social isn’t going to cut it anymore if you want to grow.
My client recently told me seeing how I don’t only post portfolio work but also share helpful information is what helped her make the decision to book me over other photographers. Your clients want to feel like they know you before working with you, and the easiest way to do that is to create bite-sized video content that you can add your messaging and value-based text to.
Social media platforms are prioritizing video, and if you want your work to be seen by more people than just your current followers without having to pay for ads, you need to consistently post videos.
Create a branding and content strategy that speaks to your ideal client, addresses their pain points and how you can help them. Remember, your marketing content should show who you are, what you do and who you serve.
B-Roll Video Ideas for Photographers
I’ve put together a FREE list of 30+ b-roll video ideas you can batch create this weekend and over the holiday to have ready to post asap. I’ve seen a 20% increase in reach just on IG using short videos on my stories and in Reels.
What are b-roll videos? They’re secondary videos that are typically paired with talking to camera videos (or A-roll video) to visually show what you’re talking about. B-roll can be videos of you doing various things and you can pair it with voiceovers, text, etc. They’re trending all over social media, and are being used across niches and industries.
Here is an example of a b-roll video I recently posted on Instagram from my summer mini session event:
These are behind the scenes videos from the shoot, that I put together in inShot, trimmed them down and uploaded as a Reel with text and trending music. It took me less than 30 minutes to create, and I even added a few folks to the waitlist for my next mini session day!
You don’t need a video camera to create videos for your marketing. You can use your phone, just make sure you have top notch lighting so the videos are high quality.
And now you can auto-publish your reels to Pinterest, repurpose them on TikTok and YouTube Shorts and reach even more potential clients!
B-roll videos can be used over and over again.
If you’re a brand photographer trying to sell short videos as a service, you definitely need to be creating your own branded content. We must practice what we preach, ok!
