3 Photos to Shoot for Your Brand (DIY Style)

Need photo ideas for your brand, and not ready to hire a photographer? DIY your brand photos! Every business owner needs on-brand photos, whether you’re working with a photographer or creating content on your own.

Here are three photo ideas every entrepreneur should have in their catalog for marketing:

  1. Headshots: You always need these for your profile photo, About page, speaking engagements, digital products, and all your marketing. Create variety in your backdrops, poses and outfits.

  2. Client Experience: Show how you work with clients, digitally and in-person if you can. If you do a lot of virtual calls, grab some shots of you talking with your hands to your computer. Again, switch up your outfits, locations, etc.

  3. Behind the Scenes: What seems boring to us is super interesting to our potential clients and customers. Show your everyday processes and the end result, so they have something to look forward to!

If you’re just starting out creating content for your brand, DIY your photos. I actually recommend this, because it gives you a chance to figure out your aesthetic, who you want to attract and your daily routine. Makes it so much easier when you’re creating your shot list and eventually working with a brand photographer.

Some of my go-to tools for DIY content creation are:

  • Phone or camera

  • Tripod

  • Bluetooth remote

  • Lens cleaning wipes

  • Backdrop paper roll

  • Backdrop stand

  • Props (especially business tools)

Before you start shooting, create a moodboard and shot list for time efficiency and to create cohesive images for your brand. Stick with a color palette for consistency when you post your photos across your marketing channels.
