What to Wear for a Personal Branding Photoshoot
Not sure what to wear to your next branding photoshoot? Don’t sweat it!
My biggest advice while planning wardrobe for your shoot is to choose outfits that are authentic to your personal style and the brand you want to reflect. If you feel comfortable in a pant suit, wear it! If you’re more of a jeans and blouse kind of gal, wear that!
Wardrobe Styling Tips for Your Brand Photoshoot
Wear classic styles that can be worn yearround. If you’re shooting in the fall/winter, mix in some pieces that you’d also wear in the spring/summer like a figure-flattering dress and a blazer with pants or a skirt.
Wear neutral colors that will match any location. If you want to bring in those bolder colors in your brand color palette, wear them in your accessories or pieces you can easily remove or switch out (like a jacket or top).
Mix in trendy pieces to really show off your style. A statement top, skirt or pair of shoes will make your audience stop the scroll. A good mix of both classic and trendy brings balance to your imagery and you can use them beyond the current season.
Choose soft or sheer fabrics. They photograph really well, and give a nice feminine vibe to your brand imagery. Choose either solid colors or prints.
I’d recommend 3-4 outfit changes for variety, and depending on the length of your session. You may have time for more outfit changes, if you’re switching out a top or throwing on a dress. Incorporate outfits you’d wear while working from home (meeting with clients), out and about (like a brunch or date night) and speaking or attending a conference or business event.
Before you buy anything new for your brand photoshoot, shop your closet! I’ve been planning outfits for my own brand photoshoot later this week, and realized I already had outfits I hadn’t worn in brand photos yet. There are so many ways you can refresh pieces from your current wardrobe for the season or if you want to go more trendy. Before you go shopping, see if you can build off of what you already have.
If you’re looking for specific ideas for looking casual but polished, try:
A matching set with chunky sneakers
A button down belted dress with simple heels
Jeans and a cardigan as a top with low heels
All suggestions! You can switch up the shoes to match your personal style. Add layered necklaces, statement earrings and rings and arm candy to complete the looks.
My go-to brands to shop are H&M, Old Navy, Eloquii, Aerie and Target. All have size-inclusive styles that are flattering on all body types.
Here are a few outfits I’m packing for my next brand photoshoot:
If you still aren’t sure of how to put outfits together, hire a personal stylist! Search “[your city] personal stylist or if you don’t need them to be there in person, search for stylists who can do a virtual session.
